Good to know

The farm at one time was owned by Civil War Veteran (and brother of famous whiskey distiller Jack) Wiley Daniel and his heirs. Beautiful Mulberry Creek runs right by the farm on its way to the Elk River and can be paddled. The farm has a park-like setting with pastoral views, pastures, lavender and woods. The farm produces all-organic lavender, organic vegetables, organic hay, and free-range organic Eggs from our pastured heritage hens. There are Navajo Churro Sheep doing the weeding, and an assortment of heirloom poultry and geese keep the bugs at bay. A small herd of White-Tailed Deer make the farm their home. Enjoy some welcome downtime to unplug and live in the moment. There is no wifi or TV on the farm but just 10 minutes away at Java Roads in Fayetteville, you can enjoy high-speed wifi and a delicious pastry on the side, or in Lynchburg at Southern Perks (open on Sundays too). Your cellphone generally does work, depending on your carrier. Enjoy your privacy in the romantic lavender cottage. Soak in the big clawfoot tub while watching the deer, horses and sheep. When Wiley Daniel (Famous distiller Jack Daniel's older brother) and his heirs ran this farm this Cottage was the grain house or granary. Come stay on this 1860s farm once owned and built by famous distiller Jack Daniel's brother, a few miles from Lynchburg and Fayetteville. Take a scenic drive from Music City Nashville, outdoorsy Chattanooga, or space and rocket Huntsville. Staying at this historic farm is an experience all its own. If you are traveling with friends, check with us to see if there is room in the farmhouse B&B. A regular booking now comes with an all-organic breakfast for two delivered to your door to enjoy in the privacy of your cottage. Breakfast choices depend on what is in season but generally consists of an Egg Fritata with pasture raised bacon, fresh garden vegetables, biscuits with lavender honey, and a seasonal fruit and orange juice. Other options can be discussed - we aim to fill you up with something healthy to start your day. No need to guess or read labels, we have done that for you! Peace of mind at last! You will love the view of the deer and sheep from your window, or while enjoying some porch moments. The Cottage is part of Mulberry Lavender Farm ( in the quaint town of Mulberry, with a rich history all its own). Mulberry is located right between Fayetteville and Lynchburg. Amenities include a full bathroom with a large soaking tub, and separate shower. There was no WIFI in 1860 and there is none now unless your phone provides you with a hotspot, which most cell phones do work here depending on your provider. There is a small kitchen with refrigerator, water cooker, and coffee maker. A hearth to keep away the chill. The cottage is located on a working farm with livestock and wildlife, so caution and respect for the animals is required. You may wake up after a restful night sleep, to the sound of a braying donkey, or gobbling turkey. There are dogs and cats on the premises, and although we love pets, any visiting pets are ONLY accepted on an individual basis, after evaluating the risk they may pose to pets, free-ranging chickens, livestock, and the local wildlife. If you will be traveling with a pet, you will need to inquire directly with me (Anita) and get pre-approval before you can bring your pet. A $25 pet fee is charged per pet if pre-approved, payable upon check-in. There is a veterinary hospital and boarding facility, with very friendly and knowledgeable staff, a few miles away where you can board your pet per hour or day - we can assist in getting you connected with them. The whole farm, including the house and grounds is a non-tobacco environment. This means no smoking, no smokeless tobacco (chew), nor vaping. Tobacco puts the lavender at risk of being infected with TMV (Tobacco Mosaic Virus). You can shop for homegrown lavender products, bronze art, and regional crafts in the farm store. Pure honey from the farm's bees, and Lavender Essential Oil, Navajo Churro Wool, and lots more. Your breakfast will include some of our culinary lavender products, straight from the farm (Herbes de Provence, Alderwood Smoked Seasalt with our Royal Velvet Lavender, and if available Lavender Honey).

Other Details to Note

If you need to accommodate more people, you can also check if there are rooms available in the Farmhouse B&B. The rooms in the 1860 Farm house are also listed on AirBnB. Breakfast is all-organic and non-GMO. The Cottage is stocked with organic coffee and tea and has a small refrigerator to keep your supplies cool. (URL HIDDEN)

Neighborhood

The farm is in a quiet area but with easy access to Hwy 50/55, I-64, and I-65. The nearest towns where you can shop, get groceries, and dine are Fayetteville, Lynchburg, and Tullahoma. A fun place for a good cup of coffee and something other than BBQ is Southern Perks (open Sundays) on the square of Lynchburg or Java Road in Fayetteville. In these smaller towns, the stores often close early so try to get there in the morning. Both these coffee houses offer free high-speed Wifi.

Guest Access

You are welcome to enjoy the scenery of the farm, but must be respectful to the farm animals, pets, and wildlife. Also be careful not to touch the fencing, because it is electrified. There is a small farm store, stocked with lavender, wool, products made with lavender, gift items, Bronze Wildlife and Equine Sculptures by award-winning artist Bob Scheelings, and local crafts.

The farm, animals, and Anita were great. We loved meeting Coco & Opossum. Anita was very friendly and communicative. The bed linens were exceptional! And there were thoughtful touches throughout the cottage - night lights, fresh flowers, multiple towel sizes, and organic half & half. Highly recommend!

This was our second stay at the Lavender Farm. I cannot say enough about the peaceful surroundings, the extremely pleasant hosts (Anita and Bob), the superb breakfasts, the friendly farm animals, deer, coyotes howling in the night, the solitude, and the location. If you are looking for exciting nightlife, you probably need to drive 1 1/2 hours north to Nashville. Lynchburg is quaint and Tullahoma (30 minutes away) has all the modern shopping you need. Great hiking nearby and a morning run on the roads around Mulberry are pleasant and almost completely free of traffic. The cottage is decorated nicely, the bed is comfortable and the surroundings are beautiful. I cannot say enough about what a quiet, pleasant stay we had. Thank you!
